Christian Yelich’s first home run of the season was a tape measure shot

In the latest chapter of an NL Central rivalry, the Brewers and Cubs faced off in 2020’s opening series. The MLB season was a long time coming, and Christian Yelich is aiming to defend his second-place MVP campaign in what’ll be a statistically-challenging year for baseball’s finest due to the lack of games at their disposal. Nonetheless, Yelich is off to a good start, as his first hit and home run of the year was a no-doubter.

Yelich will have a tough time duplicating his 44 home runs and 97 RBI in just 60 games of action, but his MVP potential remains assuming he can stay healthy. It could be argued that perhaps there is no more truly valuable player for his team than Yelich in Milwaukee. The Brewers rotation is rather lacking this year, and despite a productive bullpen to round out their pitching staff, Milwaukee will have to outscore a competitive NL Central featuring the Cubs, Cardinals and improved Reds.

The 28-year-old’s bomb travelled an estimated 425 feet, and was the perfect answer the Kyle Schwarber’s 3-run blast.

Such a blast is the first of many in 2020 for Yelich.
