DraftKings MLB Picks July 25: I Minored in Darvish
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings MLB one-off picks:
BvP is one of the most polarizing things among statheads, especially when it comes to daily fantasy games. What it means is going by a batter’s past stats against the night’s pitcher.
You have to pick your spots against Waino, but there is some hope for the Pirates today. I’ll have a few Pirates pieces based on price alone.
The jays have hit Yarbrough hard a few times and Yarbrough was a toad at home last year. It takes a little gambling to use Blue Jays, but I don’t hate it.
The Marlins are one of those teams that always seem to hit good pitchers well. Just ask Scherzer. They held their own against Nola last night. They have solid numbers against Wheeler too. I’m not stacking, but there are good pieces on that team today.
I have no basis for using Joey Gallo against Jon Gray today, but I’m going to anyway. His ERA was actually worse on the road last year and lefties smoke him. Guzman is nice on the cheap as well as Choo leading off.
I’m not confident enough to use McCullers in his first start off of Tommy John Surgery, but he could be a nice way to differentiate yourself.
Pete Alonso’s only hit in ten tries against Max Fried is a three-run homer. He’s the definition of one-off. Most Mets righties have hit Fried well, but not hard. And they’re cheap to help round out your lineups.
Just in case taking the Orioles jersey off makes Bundy good, I’m not stacking on him. There are better places to do so, but I’ll still have some exposure just in case.

Mike Trout ($5,900) vs. Sean Manaea: 7-17(.412), 3B, 3 HR, 4 R, 4 RBI, 4 BB
Seager paid off last night and could again this afternoon. Khris Davis is another guy that I will have a lot of exposure to as well.
