New Orleans Saints-Alvin Kamara is going to get paid

The Panthers sent shockwaves throughout the NFC South when they made Christian McCaffrey the highest-paid running back in football. Saints officials couldn’t have been happy to see that deal consummated. It’s going to cost them a small fortune when it comes to retaining Alvin Kamara.

Kamara isn’t going to reset the market in the same fashion that McCaffrey did, but he’s still going to get a big deal for a running back. The lack of noise emanating from New Orleans on the subject tells observers all they need to know about the subject. Both the franchise and their star running back expect to get a deal done.

Don’t look for the Saints to let this saga drag into the offseason. Getting Kamara locked up before Drew Brees’ future is sorted out is key to the team’s hopes of staying competitive in the short and medium-term. Kamara might end up overpaid, but New Orleans will need him more than ever before after Brees hangs it up.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Rob Gronkowski won’t catch 50 passes

Gronkowski’s decision to come back into the league and reunite with Brady has been more of the most talked-about moves of the offseason. That doesn’t mean Gronkowski is going to be a major cog in the Buccaneers’ offense in 2020.

Instead, look for Tampa Bay to do everything they can to make sure he’s fresh for what they hope will be a lengthy postseason run. The end result will be a very quiet regular season for Gronk. He won’t even make 50 catches before the games really start to count. He’ll be much more of a big name than big producer for the Buccaneers this year.
