2. Curtis Samuel, Carolina Panthers

The Panthers seem to be pushing Samuel down their pecking order, which fostered some trade speculation between free agency and the draft. More recently, offensive coordinator Joe Brady said Samuel will be “critical to success” of the team’s offense.

“Curtis is a playmaker. He fits the mold of what we’re looking for in this type of offense, a guy that you can utilize all around the field and get the ball in the hands and good things happen.”

Samuel is a unique talent, and he had his best season in 2019 with below-par quarterback play from an injured Cam Newton or an inept Kyle Allen (54 receptions for 627 yards, 6 TD; 130 rushing yards, 1 TD). He saw action as a return man in his first two seasons, so there’s room for him to contribute there too.

Samuel would seem to fit nicely in Baltimore’s offense. He’s a threat on both short and deep passes, as well as in the run game as a piece of misdirection and production. He’s also on a third-round pick’s contract, entering the final year of it no less, so the cap-short Ravens can easily fit him in there.
