1. Social Justice statements

Easily the biggest storyline heading into Orlando is social justice. The killing of George Floyd sparked a massive response across the nation, including for NBA players, so much so that it put completing the season into question. The deal was that if the NBA were to return, social justice would have to be a part of it.

Even with a rule requiring standing for the flag in place, expect that to change tomorrow. Expect to see social justice statements on the backs of players’ jerseys. Expect to see “Black Lives Matter” on the court and expect players carry the crucial messages onto the basketball court.

The NBA is not excluded from social conversations but an integral part of it. The league has been active on these matters in the past and that will be on display to the biggest extent yet in Orlando.
