The Trojans would do great with this other defensive end

If there’s one thing that college football coaches salivate over, especially creative ones, it’s players who offer them a ton of versatility. When you look at what Las Vegas native Tiaoalii Savea brings to the table, it’s no wonder why he’s considered a valuable recruit who’s coveted by several high-end Power 5 schools, including USC.

Savea was initially considered an offensive tackle recruit as he excelled at that position in high school. However, as his recruitment has started to take shape, it’s become clear that the 4-star recruit wants to play on the defensive side of the ball at end for his college football career. And as you can tell by the list of Trojans targets, USC offers him the chance to step into that type of role.

The rub on the 6-foot-3, 265-pounder is that he has nice movement skills and strength to mold as a pass-rusher. His background on the offensive line should serve him well from an instinctual part of the game as well. However, a lack of overall experience as a defensive end could mean that there is a large-ish learning curve for him at the position. Still, the potential for what he could develop into his high.

Though nothing is certain at this point as Savea has yet to set a decision date, it does seem as if USC is well out in front of any other suitors in terms of his recruitment. In fact, it’s a comfortable statement to say that, whenever the defensive end makes his decision, it would be a major upset if he didn’t land with the Trojans.
