Clemson football breakout candidate No. 4: Braden Galloway, TE

In all honesty, tight end Braden Galloway should’ve been a breakout player for Clemson last season. Though he was just a 3-star recruit when he enrolled with the Tigers program in 2018, he flashed as a true freshman enough to make every fan believe that he had an extremely bright future ahead of him.

In three games as a freshman, Galloway came up with five receptions for 52 yards and a touchdowns. Unfortunately, he was among the group of players who were suspended for a positive PED test at the end of the 2018 campaign, which resulted in him being suspended for the entirety of the 2019 season, at least until the National Championship Game.

Once again giving fans a taste, Galloway showed signs of life in the eventual title-game loss to LSU last year. He caught two balls for 60 yards in his lone appearances for the year. Now that he’s not saddled with a suspension and has a year to work with Trevor Lawrence as one of the all-world quarterback’s primary weapons, we could see Galloway really take off.

At 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds with impressive speed and quickness for a player his size, Galloway has matchup nightmare written all over him. In the simplest terms, linebackers and safeties at this level won’t be able to contain him. With how Clemson has relied on tight ends in the past, expect this one to finally get on the field for a full season and produce in a major way.
