Nazem Kadri scored a game winner for the Colorado Avalanche by literal milliseconds.

There’s buzzer beaters, and then there’s what Nazem Kadri just did to defeat the St. Louis Blues at the literal last possible moment on Sunday night.

The Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues faced off in the first game of the Western Conference round robin tournament, in what was an admittedly a forgettable affair until the final seconds of the game.

Tied 1-1 after a goal from Ryan Graves early in the third period, the Avalanche went on a powerplay with just over a minute to go, trying to end the game in regulation to secure two points. With three seconds to go, Gabe Landeskog rang a one timer off the post right onto the stick of Nazem Kadri, who buried the puck into a wide open net right as the horn sounded.

With no way for the officials to determine if the puck crossed the line in real time, the play went to review, and even still it was impossible to tell whether or not that puck actually fully crossed the line in time.

After a lengthy review, the call on the ice was a good goal with less than 0.1 seconds left on the clock, giving the Avalanche a regulation win for the full two points while the Blues were left with nothing. In a three game round robin, that could be the difference between the top seed.
