5 reasons Titans can win the Super Bowl this year
2. Head coach Mike Vrabel is a legitimate defensive genius who will learn from the AFC Title Game
After retiring from the NFL as a player in 2010, after 14 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots, and three Super Bowl rings, Mike Vrabel embarked on his next football challenge: coaching. He spent three years at Ohio State before re-entering the NFL as the linebackers coach for the Houston Texans. He spent two seasons in that role before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2017; and after just one season in that role, he was hired as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans.
In 2019, just his second season as a head coach, Vrabel led the Titans to the AFC Championship Game and all the way to the brink of a Super Bowl appearance. Here’s the secret, though: he’s only going to get better.
Not only is Vrabel still incredibly young in his coaching career, but he’s also already displayed a football IQ which puts him in the upper echelons of all coaches across the league. No doubt, playing for Bill Belichick, who is the best defensive mind the NFL has ever seen, has shaped the way that Vrabel coaches and studies the game — and will continue to push him towards a Hall of Fame coaching career.
If there is one thing that we know about Belichick, and subsequently Vrabel, it’s that you’re unlikely to beat him the same way twice. The young coach will absolutely learn from his team’s collapse against Kansas City, and that will push the team even further than it was just a year ago.
The Tennessee Titans can win Super Bowl LV, and their former NFL Champion head coach is a big reason why.
