Ed Oliver shared his frustration regarding his recent arrest, with officers taking him into custody for DWI even though he passed a Breathalyzer test.

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver expressed his frustration regarding his recent arrest after officers took him into custody for DWI despite the fact that a Breathalyzer test showed no alcohol in his system, according to ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques.

All charges against Oliver were later dropped, and the second-year man out of Houston said that the justice system saw him as “guilty until proven innocent, not innocent until proven guilty.” Now exonerated, he appears to have learned from the situation, per Buffalo reporter Josh Reed.

Oliver appears to have moved on from the arrest but contemplated his experience with police and prejudice in the wake of George Floyd‘s murder at the hands of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, which occurred just over a week after Oliver’s arrest.

“If I didn’t just ‘yes sir, no sir’ and just comply—all it took was for me to move the wrong way or do something the wrong way and that could’ve been me,” Oliver said.

While the charges have been dropped Oliver said that the whole experience still irks him and that he felt “violated” by the arresting officers. It is unclear if he will take legal action for the seemingly unlawful arrest, but Oliver appears ready to move on to the upcoming NFL season.

With Star Lotuleilei sitting out in 2020, the Bills will need their 2019 first-round pick more than ever. Oliver is coming off of a strong rookie season in which he posted five sacks, and the Buffalo coaching staff has to be encouraged by his maturity in such a difficult situation. If Oliver can bring the same type of composure to the field in 2020, Buffalo’s defensive line will be in good hands.
