Mookie Betts is proving his worth for the Dodgers.

There was an initial concern that Mookie Betts would never play a single game in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform when MLB was fighting to agree on a season. That concern turned into Betts signing a 12-year, $365 million extension and cementing himself as a fixture of the franchise moving forward.

Betts is off to a solid start with the Dodgers and has helped lead the team to a 11-5 record during the most bizarre season in MLB history. One of his more clutch moments came Sunday when he launched a three-run home run to clinch a victory over the San Francisco Giants.

This was Betts’ fourth home run of the season and it gave the Dodgers a 6-2 victory late against the Giants. He also had a home run earlier in the series on Friday in another Dodgers victory.

While the sample size is still small, Betts is slashing .283/.345/.566 in 14 games and has four home runs and 10 RBI. He has also only struck out eight time and has six doubles as well.

Betts is a key long-term piece for the Dodgers and his home run Sunday gave fans a glimpse of why he was so beloved in Boston. He was the 2018 American League MVP and has made four All-Star Games in his career.

The outfielder also entered the 2020 season with a WAR of 41.8 through only six seasons. He is the real deal and that is why the Dodgers locked him up before he had a chance to hear more offers this upcoming offseason.
