Zach Plesac is not taking responsibility for his actions.

The Cleveland Indians are dealing with a tough situation involving pitchers Zach Plesac and Mike Clevinger. Both broke the rules last week while the team was in Chicago by sneaking out of the hotel to hangout with friends.

The two have been sent home by the team for now and have offered up some boilerplate apologies. However, Plesac went on Instagram to share his true thoughts on the matter and pulled out the modern trick of blaming the media for everything. Is it that hard to apologize these days?

Zach Plesac casts blame on the media for his error.

The pitcher at least acknowledges he broke the rules. The problem is he can’t grasp the fact there are consequences for such actions.

"“The media’s portraying me and my best friend and teammate to be malicious with our actions when we were really … practicing safe practices,” Plesac says."

It doesn’t matter that he was with a small group of people. Those individuals were outside the little bubble his team has established and thus there is a higher risk of contracting the virus and spreading it to the entire team. This should seem obvious.

No one is saying he had malicious intent to infect the entire team. He is rightfully being called out for being selfish and acting like a child who couldn’t follow the rules. A professional athlete complaining about having to follow quarantine protocol for a few months, while getting paid, is going to get zero sympathy from fans.

Plesac actually looked better than Clevinger in the situation after the latter lied about it all and flew home with the team. But Plesac couldn’t help himself and surely got a call from the team as soon as that video was posted.

Teammate Adam Plutko already spoke out against both players and it is going to be hard for Plesac to return and be welcomed back. Casting blame elsewhere makes him look even worse in an already frustrating situation.
