With Ben Roethlisberger back, Diontae Johnson has the chance to explode.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have long been a team that fantasy value drips from. Whether it was the days of Hines Ward, Rashard Mendenhall, and Santonio Holmes running out there or the “Killer Bees” days with Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, and Le’Veon Bell, the Steelers have been on radars for a long time. And the factor that has always been the reason players make huge fantasy impacts is quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Without him in 2019, the team suffered and so did fantasy teams. Now, with him returning, the second wide receiver of the Steelers will have immense flex value like in years past. That happens to be Diontae Johnson this season, who is one of the best fantasy football sleepers this season.

Johnson burst onto the scene last season as a rookie, showing that he has the ability to be a “home run” type of guy opposite of JuJu Smith-Schuster. Of course, this mostly came playing with Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges at quarterback. This season, he will enter as the No. 2 on the depth chart and has plenty of potential to become a weekly flex with legit WR2 upside.

With Johnson’s current ADP of being the WR39 off the board and the 98th player overall gives him the chance to be middle bench piece in 10-man leagues and become a starter down the line when Roethlisberger becomes comfortable with him and begins to have trust.

When it comes to top fantasy football sleepers, Johnson carries a lot of hope that he can be a guy you look to, especially if you plan to go heavy on running backs in the early going of your draft. He can be someone you slot in and beat his ADP expectations, making your team far better in the long run of the season.

Johnson is a name to watch moving forward and certainly someone to consider as early as the 8th round.
