Fantasy Football: Searching for 2020’s top rookie wide receiver
By Ben Grivas
Jalen Reagor
Talent
Despite being drafted as the fourth receiver off the board, Reagor has all the talent you would expect out of a first round pick. He posted the second highest in-game speed of any wide receiver in the 2020 draft class, just behind Henry Ruggs. His agility and quickness makes him dangerous with the ball in his hand, creating the opportunity for plays like this:
Reagor had 2 punt return touchdowns last year on 15 returns. His receiving numbers took a hit from 2018 to 2019, but that can be attributed to a QB with a 53% completion rate. Carson Wentz will be a major upgrade at QB and Reagor should have a chance to shine.
Opportunity
Jalen Reagor landed in a perfect situation for a rookie receiver. Carson Wentz has 2 seasons with 600+ passing attempts under his belt due to the Eagles’ league leading pace of play. Aside from the best tight end duo in the league and a capable receiving back in Miles Sanders, their receiving core is a mess. Their best wide receiver, Alshon Jeffery, is a candidate to start the year on the PUP list, DeSean Jackson is 33 years old and coming off an injury, and new acquisition Marquise Goodwin is holding out. That leaves Jalen Reagor with a good chance to be the top wide receiver for the Eagles. He has legit WR2 upside in 2020, and he’s my top pick for this year’s breakout wide receiver.
