9. Lions wideout Kenny Golladay will top the NFL in receiving yards

Please do not view this an endorsement that the Detroit Lions will be formidable in 2020. That’s not what this is.

In reality, it’s the opposite. Detroit will be trailing more than leading during the 2020 season, and that is a prime slot for Golladay to churn up receiving yards. Before his injury last season, Matt Stafford was statistically exerting the best season of his 11-year career. Stafford is not even 33 years old yet, so he has plenty of his prime performance left to showcase.

Golladay will turn 27 in November. Therefore, the Lions are coupling their two best offensive players in the best spots of their professional lives. Notoriously, Detroit is lacking in the rushing columns of box scores. We already know they plan to throw the football all over the field.

In 2019, Golladay finished the season with 1,190 receiving yards or seventh-most in the business. There are two main reasons why this number will spike. First, Golladay was able to accrue this impressive mark with David Blough and Jeff Driskel throwing him the ball 50 percent of the time. Who? Exactly.

Next, both Marvin Jones and Danny Amendola are hitting ages where production slows down. This is not a claim that the men are nearing futility, but as their performances dip a bit,  and Golladay’s will burgeon.
