3. The Dallas Cowboys will reach the NFC Championship Game

With skipper Jason Garrett out of the way and sleeping with the enemy in New York, the Dallas Cowboys can burst from a blob of mediocrity into a nostalgia-filled sphere of legitimacy.

The last time the Cowboys won an NFC Championship game, Bill Clinton was planning a reelection campaign against Republican senator Bob Dole. It’s been a while.

The 2020 Dallas Cowboys are as balanced as an Olympic gymnast. They’ve loaded their roster with talent all over the place. The team finished the 2019 season sixth in points scored and 11th in points allowed only to achieve a purgatory record of 8-8 and thus disqualified from postseason contention.

The Cowboys have since hired a Super Bowl champion coach in former Packers skipper Mike McCarthy. On offense, they obscenely drafted the highly coveted wideout, CeeDee Lamb.

It’s obscene because the team already has Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, two apt pass-catchers, at the wide receiver position. And then to ensure the season doesn’t turn to mush in the event of Dak Prescott injury, Dallas added veteran starting quarterback Andy Dalton to the roster. Instantly, Dalton becomes the league’s best backup signal-caller.

That’s just the offense.

Defensively, the Cowboys stocked up is mass fashion. Additions include Gerald McCoy, Ha-Ha Clinton Dix, Everson Griffen, Dontari Poe, Daryl Worley, and Aldon Smith. That’s close to a whole new starting lineup of aging but proven players.

All of this and Ezekiel Elliott has not been mentioned. That should tell you the level of talent seeping from this depth chart.

Dallas will be a participant in the NFC Championship — perhaps even a host.
