The Dallas Mavericks star will be on the court for Sunday’s contest
Out of all the NBA Playoff matchups in the first-round, the most exciting has been the Los Angeles Clippers battling against the feisty Dallas Mavericks. Game 3 on Friday evening was a close contest, but Dallas took a hit after star guard Luka Doncic rolled his ankle while getting tangled up with Kawhi Leonard in the third quarter. Doncic attempted to play in the fourth quarter, but took himself out because he couldn’t put any weight on his ankle. After being diagnosed with an ankle sprain, fans and pundits were wondering if he would return for the rest of the series.
The hoops world received their answer on Sunday, as reports indicated that the Doncic will be available to play in Game 4.
Doncic has the heart of a warrior
Doncic went for an MRI immediately after Game 3, but according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, the results revealed there was “nothing alarming” and that there was “minimal” swelling in the ankle. this is welcome news, especially when watching Doncic limp to the locker room on one foot following Game 3.
Through the first three games of the series, Doncic has averaged 27.7 points, 8.7 assists and 8.5 rebounds in 31.7 minutes, all while shooting 45.9-percent from the field and 35.7-percent from the three-point line.
If the Mavericks want to stand any chance in pulling off the massive upset against the Clippers, then Doncic has to be in the starting lineup. Doncic said he was lucky that it was his left ankle and not his right. If that would’ve happened, he probably wouldn’t be playing on Sunday afternoon.
Doncic is good to go for Game 4, but it will be interesting to see how long he can play and how effective he can be against the overpowered Clippers squad.
