2. The team sports an underrated wide receiving duo

The franchise’s decision to part with Stefon Diggs raised a lot of eyebrows around the league. It also is causing observers to overlook just how good Minnesota’s starting receivers can be in 2020.

Adam Thielen is going to face a lot more double-teams without Diggs operating on the other side of the formation. Fortunately, he’s got elite route-running ability that will help him achieve separation even when he’s being bracketed by multiple defensive backs. Betting against him to put up big numbers this year would be a big mistake.

There’s also a significant chance that rookie Justin Jefferson gives this offense a large chunk of the production they got from Diggs a season ago. His ability to make big plays from the slot and on the outside will give opposing defensive backs fits. It might take Jefferson a few weeks to adjust to the challenges of playing in the NFL, but his talent level gives him a strong chance to succeed as a rookie.

Thielen and Jefferson aren’t going to get a lot of hype heading into 2020, but they could easily finish the season as one of the top-producing wide receiver duos in the league. Defensive backs in the NFC North will not enjoy matching up with this pair on a regular basis.
