Part of the reason that Brett Brown and the Sixers’ process has flopped so hard is the fact that this team seems to be on a mission to destroy the very essence of spacing a basketball court. With Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Al Horford all sharing the floor for heavy minutes, Philly will roll out three almost complete non-shooters for most of the game. In 2020, that strategy just doesn’t work. One of their big pieces needs to be traded, and sending one of them to Sacramento in exchange for Hield would help fix their biggest issue.

The Sixers had shooting last year in the form of Jimmy Butler and J.J. Redick, but Brown chased both of them away, leaving a 7-1 Embiid to chuck up duds from 26 feet. Hield is perfect for the 76ers, as he fixes their biggest hole on the roster due to the fact he’s shot 39 percent or higher from three in each of the last three seasons without demanding the ball. Simmons driving to the basket and kicking outside to a guy in Hield who could shoot 35 percent from 3 blindfolded would make the Sixers offense more dynamic, and that increased flair might be the secret ingredient they need to compete in the East.
