4. Dave Joerger

Dave Joerger has caught a bad rap because of his last two head coaching stints, but he does seem to know what he’s doing. With the Memphis Grizzlies, Joerger coached his team to two 50-win seasons and made the playoffs all three seasons before getting the axe.

In three years with the Sacramento Kings, he oversaw a rebuilding project after the DeMarcus Cousins trade, and aside from being one of the only coaches Boogie ever liked, Joerger helped lead the Kings to a 39-win season in 2018-19 — their first season even approaching .500 territory in over a decade.

The problem with Joerger, and one that the Sixers should rightly be concerned about due to the unstable nature of the current front office, is both of his tenures were marred by his repeated conflicts with management. They were the reason he was ousted in Memphis and again in Sacramento, despite his young Kings team showing tangible signs of growth under his watch.

That type of friction is the last thing this drama-riddled organization needs right now. So although Joerger could probably coax great things out of this group (Embiid in particular), there are a few drama-free candidates for Philly to give a closer look first.
