Tom Brady’s greatness is spilling over to Tampa Bay’s defense

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided they had enough of Jameis Winston and pursued an upgrade at the quarterback position this past offseason. Luckily for them, six-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady was on the open market with minimal teams pursuing him. Now, Brady will be throwing passes to Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski in 2020. That’s a quarterbacks dream. But he’s also making a serious impact on the opposite side of the line of scrimmage.

James Palmer of NFL Network discussed how Brady has been talking to the young Bucs secondary through training camp and giving them advice on how to disguise their coverage. Plus, “TB12’s” presence is motivating the defense to step up their game against the “GOAT.”

Brady ensuring that everyone on the Bucs steps up their game

This is what you can expect from a signal caller who expects nothing but success on a yearly basis. Brady is no longer in the AFC East, where the quality of the quarterback position is relatively lacking. He’s now in a division with Matt Ryan, Drew Brees and Teddy Bridgewater. Not to mention, the Bucs face off against Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers, two of the best signal callers in the NFL.

As Palmer mentions in the clip, Tampa’s secondary was picked apart in the first half of the 2019 campaign, as they surrendered a staggering 22 passing touchdowns. But, they really came into their own in the second half, as they surrendered five scores and secured six interceptions.

Tampa’s secondary facing off against Brady in practice is good preparation for the regular season. Brady has shown he can take a bottom-tier defense to the Super Bowl, but he’d appreciate getting some help from his defense.

light. More. Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski still have that unmatched chemistry

Brady is looking to prove his doubters wrong by bringing Tampa Bay to their first playoff appearance since 2007. Based off the overall roster, he has a good shot of doing so.
