3. The Saints’ defense is also sneaky good

New Orleans is known for its explosive offense, but the biggest key to the Saints’ success in the last three years has been a vastly improved defense. Drew Brees was scoring plenty of points in the middle of the decade but ran into trouble when the Saints’ defense couldn’t limit the opposition for long enough.

The Saints have invested a lot of resources into their defense and it has led to a unit that is capable of making plays across all three levels. It all starts up front where Cameron Jordan is a very dynamic pass rusher.

The linebacking corps was fortified when New Orleans brought in Demario Davis as a free agent after the 2017 season. Davis has blossomed into a tackling machine, making plays all over the place.

New Orleans also has a stacked secondary led by Marshon Lattimore, who has the ability to be a true shutdown corner. The return of Malcolm Jenkins also provides leadership to the group, which will be key as the Saints aim to win another Super Bowl.
