2. The Saints have a great coach in Sean Payton

When people list out the NFL’s great coaches of today, Payton isn’t one of the first names that are provided. That is a mistake since Payton has proven to be one of the best head coaches in the league.

Payton has done a tremendous job building the Saints into a modern power, a far cry from what the organization looked like when he first arrived. New Orleans was coming off a 3-13 season when Payton was hired in 2006 and there were also rumblings the franchise would be moved to San Antonio in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina’s devastation.

Payton quickly built a winner, taking the Saints to a division title in his first season on the helm. Just three years later New Orleans won the Super Bowl, setting the stage for an ongoing pursuit of a second title.

That quest has consumed the Saints for years and Payton remains innovative as ever, a fact New Orleans has seen through his creative usage of quarterback Taysom Hill. Payton’s presence on the sidelines means the Saints are always a big threat to win the Super Bowl.
