NBA Rumors: 5 teams who could trade for Lonzo Ball
3. Phoenix Suns
Going all the way back to the 2017 draft, the Suns have been consistently tied to Ball. Just a year ago or so, Phoenix was seen as an ideal fit as the third team to join the Lakers and the Pelicans in a possible-three-team Anthony Davis deal by Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.
Back in February of 2019, no less an authority than LaVar Ball suggested how great a fit his son would be for the Suns.
“We want to be in L.A.,” LaVar Ball told ESPN. “But if he’s traded, I don’t want Lonzo in New Orleans. Phoenix is the best fit for him. And I am going to speak it into existence.”
The No. 10 pick in the draft could yield a young, cheaper point guard for Phoenix to pair with Ricky Rubio. But a deal for Ball remains an interesting possibility for a team that seems to finally be on a good track, and a pairing with Devin Booker in the backcourt would be nice.
Some draft pick swapping may be natural, and the pieces in a deal could be tweaked (up to and including the inclusion of a third team?), but here’s how a player-for-player deal to send Ball from New Orleans to Phoenix could work.
