Jalen Ramsey is making a significant donation to a hometown school.

Jalen Ramsey is on the final year of his rookie contract and is set to earn $13.7 million this season with the Los Angeles Rams. He earned over $15 million in cash as a rookie and is awaiting his own mega-extension here soon.

The 25-year-old has also decided to give back to those in need. Ramsey recently pledged a generous $1 million to Purpose Preparatory Academy in his hometown of Nashville.

Jalen Ramsey using his wealth for good

It is easy to forget Ramsey is from the Nashville area. He became a national star at Florida State and was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016. But he went to high school in Brentwood, Tennessee and is giving back to those in the area.

This $1 million pledge specifically focuses on underprivileged children.

This is a noble move by Ramsey and one that follows the current trend of athletes putting money up with their words of making real change in the country. The dominant defensive back was under no obligation to use his money this way, but it shows what type of person he is inside. This donation will likely mean more to a larger amount of people than anything he does on a football field.

Ramsey should be set to become a very rich man and potentially earn a record new deal sometime this fall or even early in 2021, whether that is with the Rams or elsewhere. Some team is going to pay him.

Making this type of donation at this point in his career may point toward Ramsey using his future wealth for similar purposes. The positives from that should always trump any drama on the field that isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of society.
