Top Rank added Undefeated heavyweight boxing prospect Jared Anderson to the Sept. 5 fight card headlined by Jamel Herring vs. Jonathan Oquendo.

Undefeated heavyweight boxing prospect Jared Anderson is putting in a lot of work in 2020. Top Rank announced that he would be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 5, on ESPN+.

Anderson (5-0, 5 KOs), 20, of Toledo, Ohio, has fought three times in 2020. He makes his fourth appearance this year in the ring when he fights Rodney Hernandez on the undercard of Jamel Herring vs. Jonathan Oquendo.

Herring (21-2, 10 KOs), 34, of Cincinnati, Ohio, defends his WBO junior lightweight title against Oquendo (31-6, 19 KOs) in the main event of Top Rank’s card. Herring had his title defense postponed twice and is more than ready to meet Oquendo.

The only other bout officially on the card at this point features supper middleweights, Steven Nelson and DeAndre Ware.

Nelson (16-0, 13 KOs), 32, of Omaha, Nebraska, is a stablemate of Herring. They are both trained by Brian “Bomac” McIntyre, who also trains undefeated WBO welterweight champion, Terence Crawford.

Top Rank announced Anderson’s addition to the card via Twitter on Thursday, Aug. 27.

Anderson, also known as “Big Baby,” is storming up the heavyweight rankings. Boxrec.com has him rated as the 60th best heavyweight in the world in just five fights. If he defeats Hernandez for his sixth win and sixth KO, he will jump even further up the world rankings.

Hernandez (13-9-2, 4 KOs), 31, of Modesto, California, is riding a two-fight losing streak. In November of 2019, Hernandez was stopped in the second round of his bout with Martin Bakole.

Hernandez’s record isn’t pretty. He’s an official journeyman at this point in his career. Hernandez will be a massive underdog against the 6-foot-4 Anderson. He has a very slight puncher’s chance against Anderson and nothing more. Hernandez has a low 17 percent KO rating.

Look for Anderson to make another impressive appearance from the Top Rank bubble on Sept. 5.
