6. We finally find out if Belichick was a coattail rider of Tom Brady
The answer is probably no. Bill Belichick is an outstanding coach.
But if the Patriots unthinkably exit the 2020 season with a dastardly record of something like 4-12, you can be assured the talking heads will fawn at the feet of Tom Brady as the mastermind behind the six Super Bowls.
What can Belichick squeeze out of a roster than lost 15 percent of its players to COVID opt-outs and is undergoing a reclamation trial for Cam Newton? This one is truly fascinating.
The silly approach would be to bet against Belichick because that’s what he yearns.
5. The Drew Brees Farewell Tour
If you’re a Saints fan, the last three seasons have ended in unabridged tragedy. One occasion was due to unjust, referee-related circumstances. The other two times were at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings who twice found methods to upend the Saints dramatically.
Will Drew Brees’ final trek into a regular season and possibly postseason be any different? Brees owns all the juicy passing records while Tom Brady nips as his heels in the more meaningful ones — passing yards and passing touchdowns.
Specifically, the two men are separated by a measly six touchdown passes on the all-time list. Will they play hot-potato for the most all-time during the season?
