The 30 biggest NFL storylines of the 2020 season

27. Is Christian McCaffrey showcased again at the same volume?
This one has implications for the Carolina Panthers as a whole and fantasy football participants around the globe. In 2019, McCaffrey was targeted in the passing game alone more than wide receivers Odell Becham Jr. and Courtland Sutton.
McCaffrey is a halfback and those two men are WR1s. So, yes, strange. Will new head coach Matt Rhule and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater frenetically involve McCaffrey in the offense again or will his touches and targets return to earth?
26. How soon will we see Tua Tagovailoa, if at all?
Ryan Fitzpatrick, a bearded icon, will probably start off the season as the Dolphins field general, but his days in this role are numbered. Miami drafted Tua Tagovailoa, so Fitzpatrick is indubitably playing on borrowed time.
We will find out in 2020 if Tagovailoa will merely watch and fully heal for a 2021 debut — or if he is ready to be the rescuer of a Dolphins franchise that has not won a playoff game since Bill Clinton was president.
25. Was Daniel Jones’ fumbling an outlier?
Rookie signal-caller Daniel Jones fumbled the football for the New York Giants 18 times in 2019. His otherwise splendid first season was ominously overshadowed by his tendency to put the football on the ground.
Should Jones fumble the ball anywhere close to the number of times he did last season again, he will be playing in the XFL of CFL by 2024. Increasingly in today’s game, turnovers are shunned — especially at the quarterback position.
