SS. Xander Bogaerts. 14. Pick Analysis. Boston Red Sox. 1. player. Scouting Report

Due to an abysmal pitching staff, the Red Sox have been relegated to the bottom of the AL East, which has Chaim Bloom firmly in the selling camp as the deadline approaches. While they might be hesitant to trade some of their better hitters, Bogaerts might end up being moved, as the 27-year-old might fetch a king’s ransom in return should they decide to part ways with him. Bogaerts is a tremendous shortstop both in the field and at the dish, but Boston needs prospects ASAP, and trying to offload him to a contender could replenish their farm system.

Bogaerts, in a vacuum, would be an ideal addition for Atlanta. However, the Red Sox aren’t going to give him up for chump change, and that means that top prospects like Christian Pache and Drew Waters might get brought up in trade talks. Even though Bogaerts is an elite shortstop and is locked up long-term, decimating your farm system for a player who wouldn’t even solve the biggest need on the roster could prevent Atlanta from sustaining success through the next decade.
