Jack Flaherty honors Chadwick Boseman with awesome cleats

Cardinals ace Jack Flaherty honored Chadwick Boseman on the mound

The cleats told the story for Jack Flaherty.

The St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher wore cleats to pay homage to the late Chadwick Boseman on Saturday. The purple Nike cleats displayed the logo of Marvel superhero Black Panther, a character Boseman portrayed assuming the role of T’Challa in Captain America Civil War (2016), Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

The actor passed away at the age of 43 on Friday. It was revealed he was battling colon cancer for four years while simultaneously acting in many of his most iconic roles. Boseman was the lead actor in the 13th highest grossing film of all-time in Black Panther. Boseman was also cast in the No. 1 and No. 5 highest growing movie of all-time in Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War.

Chadwick Boseman was honored around the sports world on Saturday

Flaherty retweeted a Boseman tribute tweet from Major League Baseball’s Twitter account on Friday.

“We are devastated by the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman. His transcendent performance in “42” will stand the test of time and serve as a powerful vehicle to tell Jackie’s story to audiences for generations to come,” the MLB tweeted.

Boseman had once threw out the first pitch before a Los Angeles Dodgers ballgame in 2013 after the debut of 42.

Boseman was also honored in the NBA Playoffs on Saturday. As a testament to how many folks Boseman touched through his career, he was admired throughout so many industries posthumously.

In addition to Jackie Robinson, Boseman also portrayed powerful historical figures on screen in Thurgood Marshall and James Brown in Marshall and Get on Up, respectively. Boseman’s most recent role to release was in a Spike Lee Joint in Da 5 Bloods.
