1. Bo Nix – Auburn quarterback

Bo Nix was getting some love as a long shot earlier in the offseason, but that excitement has wained with time. That doesn’t make a lot of sense since he should take another step further going from his freshman year to his sophomore year for a major program.

He was a stellar freshman for Auburn last season, and another step towards superstardom should be in the works.

Nix was inconsistent last season, and he needed to fix some of his flaws. That’s often what happens with a freshman going into his sophomore season with a major program. His favorite target Seth Williams returns this season. The only problem for Nix is the Tigers will need to replace a lot of their offensive line. That will hurt Nix, but expect Nix’s progressions as a quarterback help him get past that issue this season.

Auburn’s schedule is what could drive Nix to Heisman Trophy candidacy. For once, they don’t have an insane schedule in front of them. They do have to play Alabama, Georgia, and LSU, but instead of more games against the best in the country, they were given South Carolina and Tennessee. The Tigers will still have plenty of games with national recognizance, they don’t have a schedule that is going to burn them out. Nix can pad some of his stats while winning some marquee games.
