5. Jamie Newman – Georgia quarterback

The Georgia Bulldogs are starting a brand new era after Jake Fromm left for the NFL as they welcome Wake Forest transfer Jamie Newman under center.

The Air-Raid offense the Bulldogs are going to employ will lead to some major stats for the man under center. There is some real talent surrounding Newman that can propel him to Heisman Trophy conversations.

It all starts with wide receiver George Pickens, who could be a breakout star in his sophomore year. Then, there’s graduate transfer tight end Tre’ McKitty. Demetris Robertson can hurt a defense that decides to double team Pickens, and there are even some intriguing options in the slot.

There are a lot of reasons why Newman is going to make his move up the ranks. The Wake Forest transfer is looking to prove his NFL chops this season. With an ideal quarterback frame and ability to withstand SEC defenses, Newman could be in the conversation as soon as the first game against Alabama in Tuscaloosa. If Newman is able to unseat Mac Jones right off the top, he’s going to be the one to watch. The sky is the limit for this player.
