Oklahoma State football record prediction

vs. Tulsa, Sept. 12

While Tulsa may not be from a slouch conference by any stretch coming out of the AAC, they are arguably the worst team out of that league. The Golden Hurricane could be in for a rough trip to Stillwater as Oklahoma State shouldn’t be concerned about coming out fo the gate slowly. Prediction: Win, 51-9

vs. West Virginia, Sept. 26

You won’t find many praises being sung about the Mountaineers this season. That’s not to say that West Virginia is going to be an abomination by any stretch but rather that they lack the quality to compete atop the Big 12. Consequently, they lack the quality to hang with the Cowboys in this game. Prediction: Win, 44-17

at Kansas, Oct. 3

Kansas put the fear of the college football gods in several Big 12 teams and the Jayhawks do return Pooka Williams this season. Unfortunately, that’s about where the positives end. Les Miles’ team is young and heading in a good direction but they’ve got a ways to go before they totally get there. Prediction: Win, 48-13

at Baylor, Oct. 17

After a pretty easy opening stretch for Oklahoma State, things start ramping up quickly here. A trip to Waco won’t be the easiest thing in the world but Baylor isn’t the team that was threatening for a College Football Playoff berth a year ago. Expect the Cowboys to highlight that in mid-October. Prediction: Win, 37-24

vs. Iowa State, Oct. 24

There are plenty of people who continuously stand in Matt Campbell’s corner, especially when he has a quarterback as talented as Brock Purdy has proven to be. That being said, the Cyclones still have some deficiencies on both sides of the ball and it’s hard to see them being in the same mix as the elite teams in the Big 12. Prediction: Win, 45-28

vs. Texas, Oct. 31

Some might make the argument that Texas is the best team in the Big 12 coming into the year given Sam Ehlinger’s return at quarterback in addition to a deep group of skill players and a veteran defense. Yet, I just think Oklahoma State has the superior talent and, with this game in Stillwater, give me the Cowboys. Prediction: Win, 35-30

at Kansas State, Nov. 7

Going on the road after a big win against Texas and ahead of their bye week before playing at Oklahoma, this is a tricky matchup for the Cowboys. Kansas State challenges them stylistically in a major way and, with that and the placement on the schedule, the Wildcats are going to catch Gundy’s team slipping in this one. Prediction: Loss, 24-23

at Oklahoma, Nov. 21

Motivated by a loss — as if they needed it for the rivalry matchup — and having a week off to prepare for Lincoln Riley’s team, the Cowboys should head into Norman with a titanic-sized chip on their shoulders. I expect that to vault them in this matchup and, with question marks adding up for the Sooners, Oklahoma State will pick up a monster road victory. Prediction: Win, 38-35

vs. Texas Tech, Nov. 28

After running the gauntlet of the Big 12 in the middle of the schedule, things let up at the end of the line for the Pokes. Texas Tech has an exciting offense under Matt Wells but they aren’t the same caliber of a team as the Cowboys on either some of the ball. Prediction: Win, 49-27

at TCU, Dec. 5

Gary Patterson is neve unprepared to face a great offense, so Oklahoma State will be tested in that capacity. Having said that, TCU’s offense might be in a really tough spot this year with quarterback Max Duggan’s future in question. The result should be a Cowboys win to cap off the regular season. Prediction: Win, 27-6

Oklahoma State football predicted record: 9-1

Going 8-1 in the Big 12 and 9-1 overall should ultimately accomplish what everyone in Stillwater should be dreaming of: punching a ticket to the Big 12 Championship Game where there should be a College Football Playoff spot essentially hanging in the balance. What happens from there will be the determining factor of how successful the 2020 season is but it puts Oklahoma State in the right spot.
