One breakout star for each NFL team in the 2020 season
Dallas Cowboys – Blake Jarwin
A longtime breakout candidate since being acquired as an undrafted free agent by the Cowboys in 2017, Jarwin possesses the explosiveness to be a true difference-maker for an offense stacked with talent. With the attention Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb are sure to receive from opposing defenses, Jarwin should be in a position to enjoy a career year in Kellen Moore’s offense.
Denver Broncos – Lloyd Cushenberry III
While the Broncos have added a significant amount of talent to their ranks at the offensive skill positions, the likes of Courtland Sutton, Jery Jeudy and Noah Fant will struggle to impress if the offensive line does not improve. Third-round rookie Cushenberry is firmly in the mix for the starting center role and, if the encouraging signs he has displayed to head coach Vic Fangio (per Broncos.com) carry into the season, he will become a critical part of a potentially dynamic offense.
Detroit Lions – T.J. Hockenson
Hockenson saw his rookie year limited to 12 games because of injury but the former Iowa tight end looks primed for production akin to that of fellow Hawkeye alumni George Kittle. He has been hugely impressive in camp and with Matthew Stafford back to health, Hockenson can emerge as a contender to join Kittle and Travis Kelce as one of the best tight ends in the league.
Green Bay Packers – Oren Burks
A torn pectoral muscle robbed former third-round pick Burks of the chance to start in 2019. Now healthy again and set to start alongside Christian Kirksey, Burks won’t have to do much to help the Packers improve on their linebacker play from a year ago. He lacks prototypical size but has athletic ability to blossom into a star at a position where the Packers have long had problems.
