Avoid:

Lamar Jackson, QB BAL
Lamar Jackson set records last year in terms of rushing, and fantasy points followed suit. He had one of the all time great NFL seasons for a QB. It is not unlikely that his coup of the NFL continues this season as his athleticism and style of play are likely to carry his success into this season.

However, being drafted in the middle of the second round is a bit rich for me. I could say the same about fellow superstar Patrick Mahomes, but I think a gamble on Mahomes, given his slightly more lengthy NFL success, is a better value than one year of Jackson’s stardom.

You’ll see fantasy analysts say it everywhere. Unless you’re in a two-quarterback league, the difference between a top QB and a middle-of-the-pack QB is not nearly as significant as that of the RB or WR positions.

As of this writing, Jackson is being drafted in slot 17.3, 17th highest ADP, and 2nd among QBs. He is still ranked as my 2nd highest QB.
