New York Jets

The Jets were so desperate to add a ball carrier a few days ago, they were ready to trade for Kalen Ballage, a Dolphins running back who averaged 1.8 yards in 2019 and is likely to be cut at the end of training camp.

Why not pull the trigger on Kamara and solve the problem for good?

Anybody can see the Le’Veon Bell saga is headed toward a bitter divorce sooner or later. Frank Gore is 37 years old — the equivalent of 57 in running back years. And intriguing undrafted rookie La’Mical Perine is currently dealing with an ankle injury.

Kamara gives New York far more leverage with Bell, while from a cash and assets standpoint, no team is better positioned to strike a deal.

The Jets have cap space this year and currently project to have the third-most in 2021, while an extra first- and third-round pick from the Jamal Adams trade would surely come in handy here.
