The Boston Red Sox posted a tone-deaf tweet about the luxury tax resetting and quickly deleted it after fans bashed them left and right.

Is there any other team out there having a worse season than the Boston Red Sox? After trading away Mookie Betts and David Price, Boston fans have only seen their suffering get worse, as the team is currently in last place of the AL East standings with a 12-23 record. You know things are bad when you’re looking up at the Orioles.

Boston thought they had a nice little victory this week, as with Monday’s trade deadline coming and going, and the team shipping Kevin Pillar to Colorado and Josh Osich to Chicago, the team’s luxury tax penalties had been reset to 2021.

The Red Sox decided to celebrate this by posting about it on Twitter, which was inarguably the biggest mistake they could have made. Fans really let them have it, and the Red Sox in turn deleted the tweet. Seriously?

The 2020 campaign has been one to forget for the Boston Red Sox

What did the Red Sox expect to happen here? The tweet is the textbook definition of tone-deaf. They really needed to go to social media to celebrate something like this? We suppose in a year where they’re at the bottom of the division and have no shot at making the playoffs, any victory is something they’re going to try and brag about on social media.

What really made things even worse here is that they deleted it so quickly. Looks like an intern didn’t get the green light to fire off this post?

Whoever runs their social team definitely needs to step their game up. This was next-level embarrassment for Boston and all the bashing they’re receiving on Twitter is certainly deserved.

Next. Red Sox send Kevin Pillar to the Rockies on trade deadline day. dark
