5 recently-cut NFL veterans who could help a contender
By Mike Luciano
Most quarterbacks cut on this day are rookies that will likely end up back on a practice squad, but Glennon, who was expected to back up Gardner Minshew in Jacksonville, was released in favor of sixth-round rookie Jake Luton. The lanky 6-7 quarterback is by no means Brett Favre in terms of arm talent, but he’s shown enough in his pro career to earn a job as a backup, even considering his poor stint with the Bears.
Even if you think that your quarterback situation is totally ironed out, it’s never a bad idea to add depth at the most important position. With 35 touchdowns against 20 picks in his career, Glennon is the best of the bunch that just became available, and he is more than worth a flier for any team that wants to pick up a new backup quarterback.
