NBA DFS picks September 7: Chase the upside of Kawhi
By Mike Marteny
NBA DFS forward plays:
Most of the action is at forward in this set of games. Paul George is a guard on FanDuel now, but I still think Kawhi is the way you want to go for the Clippers. He was huge in Game 1 and the only Clipper keeping them in the game despite a horrid shooting night in Game 2. The usage is far higher on Kawhi than anyone else on this team.
Jayson Tatum has big upside, but his price is at the point where he can really hurt you if he only gets 30 fantasy points. Find the extra money for Kawhi. You’ll be glad you did. Tatum has only hit value once in four games against Toronto.
Jokic popping up on the injury report is a bit concerning. If you’re willing to take the risk he could pay off big, but if something is actually wrong and inhibiting him, he can ruin a lineup.
Game 4 was better for the Toronto frontcourt overall, but bad for the Marc Gasol value play. Siakam still has good upside at the price. Ibaka and OG need ceiling games to really pay off for their price range.
The price in Theis is a little tougher to swallow, but he’s a gift at PF on FanDuel. Remember that when you are sorting through the rest of that shallow position.
I don’t trust any of the Denver forwards. Millsap is the least likely to hurt you, but Grant has all of the upside. However, he is just as enigmatic as Marcus Morris. This situation is not for the faint of heart.
This is why Denver has Paul Millsap on the roster. For his playoff experience. He was strong in Game 1 and could be a decent value. That said, I’d rather play Montrezl Harrell and capitalize on his upside for a lower price.
Robert Williams is one of the most efficient players in a Celtic uniform. His price has risen to the point where he doesn’t offer a ton of value but he should be money in cash games.
JaMychal Green far outplayed Morris in less minutes in Game 2. His price is superb if Green is going to continue to get minutes. He was an afterthought in the Dallas series, but Green has been nice in both games of this series so far against Denver’s size.
I’m prioritizing Kawhi and Toronto guards tonight. There are a lot of really good value plays, which is unusual for a two game NBA DFS slate. If you land on the right ones, this could be a big night. See you at the top!
