For those who play fantasy football in the New York tri-state area, Darius Slayton is not necessarily unknown. For those outside of that bubble who need receiver help this early, he is a name to eye on that waiver wire.

Slayton is currently moderately rostered, and that number will rise as more drafts take place. But, he probably won’t exceed a percentage of more than 70%. Meaning, he is going to be available in some leagues.

Last year was Slayton’s rookie season, and he was the team’s most productive receiver. He led the Giants in receiving yards (740) and receiving scores (8). Yes, Golden Tate played just 11 games, and Sterling Shepard only 10.

Regardless, Slayton still put up large numbers with both Tate and Shepard back in the fold. He had seven games of 50+ yards, three of 80 or more, and two huge 120+ yard games. He also hauled in at least one score in five games and had multiple touchdown games three times.

Slayton and the Giants host the Pittsburgh Steelers and that gritty defense Week 1. This matchup might cause some to shy away, but it should not. He is a true WR2 in deep leagues, and flex in most others.

The second-year receiver is a big-play threat, perhaps the only true downfield option the Giants currently have. He will get his targets, which means there are yards and potential touchdowns to be had for Slayton in Week 1.
