On the goal, Ronaldo bent the ball to perfection over the goalkeeper’s outstretched arm. In a way, it was a metaphor for how unstoppable CR7 has been throughout his career. On cloud nine, Ronaldo leaped in the air in a 360 degree spin celebrating his magical milestone before hugging his teammates.

Ronaldo’s goal was spectacular, per usual

“It doesn’t really get much better than that. Just watch it, enjoy it because it is seriously special. As you rightly say, the technique is just absolutely sublime,” the match’s commentator described Ronaldo’s goal. “There is not a goalkeeper anywhere on the planet that is going to stop that.”

Ronaldo cashed in on the milestone after returning from an infected toe that kept him out in a match against Croatia. Back in action, he scored international career goals No. 100 and 101 against Sweden. Seven of those 101 international goals have come against Sweden. Throughout his career, he has racked up six international hat tricks and scored seven goals when globally televised during the World Cup.

Ronaldo is second all-time on the international men’s football goal scorers list. He trails only Ali Daei who played for Iran from 1993 through 2006 and racked up 109 international goals. Among active players, the closest athletes to Ronaldo on this list is Sunil Chhetri with 72 goals for India and Ronaldo’s rival Lionel Messi, who has scored 70 goals for Argentina.
