Dabo Swinney had a good laugh about the rumors swirling about a Clemson departure.

Rumors of Dabo Swinney leaving the Clemson Tigers for Jacksonville Jaguars heated up after ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum floated the idea he could follow Trevor Lawrence out of Clemson and to Duvall County. Clemson Tiger fans have nothing to worry about. Swinney laughed off the rumors he would consider leaving Clemson for the NFL.

The Jacksonville Jaguars made headlines for releasing Leonard Fournette who signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a one-year deal and they also traded Yannick Ngakoue to the Minnesota Vikings. These were two of Jacksonville’s best players on each side of the ball. After these moves were made, #TankForTrevor started to gain traction again.

Dabo Swinney is content as the head coach for the Clemson Tigers

According to The Athletic’s Grace Raynor, Swinney’s reaction wasn’t much other than laughter and joking with potential No.1 draft pick Lawrence. “Reaction was just, laughed at it. Had a little fun with Trevor. But man I’m not worried about the AFC or NFC, I don’t even know what they are.”

Swinney has enjoyed a great amount of success as head coach of Clemson that included three national titles and domination of the ACC. The Tigers lost the National Championship Game to LSU last season in a highly anticipated matchup. Swinney and the Tigers want another shot at the title. Why would he leave a winning program and situation for the NFL where he’d have to start over and build a program. It doesn’t make much sense.

After going 14-1 and 8-0 in ACC play last year, the Tigers are primed and ready to get back to the national championship spotlight. The Tigers have five players on the Preseason All-ACC team and are projected to win the ACC once again. They open the season Saturday, Sept. 12 against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
