College football DFS quarterback picks September 12:

Top Tier:

The top tier at QB is loaded. Sam Howell is a solid pick, but Ian Book against Duke looks very enticing. Especially so if you think Duke hangs around. The upside on Christian Anderson is nice, but he was underwhelming in a game that Army totally dominated last week.

The real money could be with TBowling Green transfer Jarret Doege. The Mountaineers are going to let him play as much in this system as possible even in an easy win against Eastern Kentucky. He could be worth paying for.

Middle Tier:

The middle tier is full of land mines. The only one that doesn’t feel like that is Brock Purdy. Iowa State is going to run the ball quite a bit, but Purdy is much more than a game manager. He’ll sneak some by you if you’re not paying attention.

I like both quarterbacks in the Georgia Tech-Florida State game. James Blackman has good receivers and James Graham looked comfortable in this system until the bowl game. Neither is a slate breaker, but this game could have more points than you think.

I’m a big Levi Lewis fan, but not against this Iowa State defense in Ames. He should be throwing quite a bit though, so there is solid upside of the Cajuns get down early.

Bargain Shoppers:

Neither Arkansas State quarterback separated themselves in the opener, but Alabama transfer Layne Hatcher made less mistakes than Logan Bonner and he’s enough cheaper to warrant taking a shot on him. Still, there’s plenty of risk since the Red Wolves will likely ride the hot hand again.

Clemson transfer Chase Brice is dirt cheap against a strong Notre Dame defense. Don’t expect miracles, but Duke is not necessarily a bad team. Brice is a solid punt at superflex.
