BLACKSBURG, VA – OCTOBER 19: Wide receiver Dazz Newsome #5 of the North Carolina Tar Heels carries the ball against the Virginia Tech Hokies in the first overtime at Lane Stadium on October 19, 2019 in Blacksburg, Virginia. (Photo by Michael Shroyer/Getty Images) /

College football DFS wide receiver picks September 12:

Top Tier:

Only Clemson held Dazz Newsome in single digit fantasy points last season. Virginia was the only other team to hold him under 15 in conference play. Pay up. He’s worth it.

As good as Newsome is, Tamorrion Terry is the one that can break the slate. That is if James Blackman can remember what team he plays for.

I like Dyami Brown here too, but the most intriguing receiver is Northwestern graduate transfer Ben Skowronek. He was good with bad quarterbacks throwing to him. How good can he be with a guy like Ian Book throwing to him?

Middle Tier:

Tarique Milton is the latest in a growing line of really good wide receivers to come through Ames, Iowa in the last six years or so. He is Purdy’s favorite target and could be in for a big game.

Dahu Green led the Red Wolves in receiving in week 1 and should again. He’s still cheaper than the starter as well. That said, the secondary might be Kansas State’s best asset, so don’t go too heavily.

Bargain Shoppers:

Xavier Hutchinson is starting opposite Milton and could end up being about as productive. I like him a lot for the price.

Georgia Tech throws a lot more than they used to and Jalen Camp looks like a big play guy in waiting. There is risk here, but the upside is massive.

Josh Youngblood is a starter against a team that gave up quite a few passing yards last week. He’ll only set you back $3,800, so Youngblood is a strong punt here.
