10 RB sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 1
By Dustin Baker
8. Benny Snell (PIT)
Game: Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Giants (Monday, 9/14,7:15pm EST)
The New York Giants allowed the fifth-most rushing touchdowns in the business throughout last season. Running back James Conner is the Steelers RB1, but Snell will get some playing time. Like many of our sleepers, Snell should get the nod if you’re really thin at FLEX out of the gate in your fantasy season.
9. Justin Jackson (LAC)
Game: Los Angeles Chargers at Cincinnati Bengals (Sunday, 9/13, 4:05pm EST)
It’s all fine and dandy that the Bengals found their franchise quarterback in Joe Burrow and have a stud in A.J. Green returning to the team. But those two men don’t play defense.
In 2019, Cincinnati was the NFL’s worst team in league from a run-stopping standpoint. They allowed a comedic a 148.9 rushing yards per game. The Chargers have a new signal-caller in Tyrod Taylor. Who knows, maybe he will get Jackson, an RB2, involved in the team’s gameplan?
10. J.K. Dobbins (BAL)
Game: Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens (Sunday, 9/13, 1:00 EST)
If you’re a fantasy owner that has Dobbins rostered at the moment, you foresee him being a big piece to your team by midseason. For now, the Ravens have a crowded hodgepodge of rushers. Heck, the quarterback was a top-10 rushing personality in 2019.
Perhaps the Ravens will anoint the ultra-capable Dobbins as a workhorse earlier than expected. Should that occur, Dobbins could pound the Browns, who were the 3rd-worst rushing unit in the NFL during 2019.
