George Kittle took a nasty hit to his knee and had to leave the 49ers first game of the season.

The last thing the San Francisco 49ers need is another injury to a massive piece of their offense.

It took less than a half of football for the Niners to get another scare as they attempt to defend their NFC title. George Kittle took a nasty hit to his knee after going up for a pass, and had to leave the game as a result.

The hit wasn’t dirty, so don’t start with that. If there’s anyone to be mad at, it’s Garoppolo for hanging his best receiver out to dry.

This isn’t actually anyone’s fault other than fate, which has a way of intervening when we least expect it to. There are a number of things that can derail a potential return to the Super Bowl for the 49ers and losing Kittle is among the worst.

Thankfully, it seems that he’s going to be alright but this is among the last things that Niners fans want to see. Not to mention the number of fantasy football owners who were making peace with their God after seeing a TE1 go down after a hit like that.

Kittle was expected to see a lot of work Week 1 because basically everyone else on the offense who isn’t a running back is hurt. Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel were both out with injuries which significantly reduced the firepower of Kyle Shanahan’s attack.
