The Premier League season begins this weekend. On Sunday, West Brom make their return to the Premier League. The Baggies were relegated after the 2018 season and it took the club two seasons to earn promotion. Leicester looked like they were a lock for the top four last season but the club struggled following the restart.
It will be a challenge for West Brom this season to avoid relegation. The club will be one of the smallest in the Premier League this season. West Brom finished second in the Championship last season under manager Slaven Bilic. The club has spent the summer upgrading their attacking, signing wingers Matheus Pereira and Grady Diangana to permanent deals after spending last season with the club on loan. Both players were key in getting the club promoted last season, combining for 16 goals and 27 assists.
In the nine games following the restart, Leicester only picked up nine points. The terrible finish to the season cost the Foxes a spot in the Champions League. Manager Brandon Rodgers will try and start this season better than the club finished last season. The club has made only one significant move in the transfer market so far. Left-back Ben Chilwell was sold to Chelsea for more than €50 million and replaced by former Atalanta full-back Timothy Castagne. Outside of a swap at full-back, Leicester will rely on the same players that helped the club finish fifth last season. Jamie Vardy and James Maddison will continue to drive the attack. Vardy won the Premier League golden boot with 23 goals last season.
