Brighton face Chelsea at Falmer Stadium on Monday, Sept. 14. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

The first weekend of the Premier League season wraps up on Monday with Brighton hosting Chelsea at Falmer Stadium. The Seagulls avoided relegation for a third straight season, finishing 15th. Chelsea, in their first season under manager Frank Lampard, finished fourth.

Brighton will look to avoid relegation for the fourth straight season. It will again be a challenge for the Seagulls. Brighton only scored 39 goals last season and did little to improve their attack. The signing of Adam Lallana on a free transfer from Liverpool should improve their midfield. Neal Maupay will again be the featured player in the Seagulls’ attack. Maupay led the club with 10 goals last season. However, chances for Maupay and Brighton will be tough to create against one of the best Premier League clubs in Chelsea.

The Blues have been the biggest spenders in the summer transfer window. Chelsea have signed six players and spent more than €223 million. Following the massive spending spree, owner Roman Abramovich is expecting a big return and his club to be in title contention after finishing 33 points behind Liverpool last season. The Blues attack should be rejuvenated following the addition of striker Timo Werner, winger Hakim Ziyech and attacking midfielder Kai Havertz.

Werner should start over Tammy Abraham after he scored 28 goals in the Bundesliga last season for RB Leipzig. Ziyech has been a dynamic playmaker in the Eredivise. Last season with Ajax, Ziyech scored six goals and added 13 assists in only 21 games. Havertz has long been considered the best young German player in a generation. Last season with Bayer Leverkusen, Havertz scored 12 goals and added six assists. The only questions for Chelsea this season will be at center-back and keeper. If the Blues can solve their issues at those positions, they could make a title run.
