Keith Lee and Drew McIntyre battled in the main event in an important match that had stakes on WWE Night of Champions.

The September 14 edition of Monday Night Raw was packed with action as the champions were set to battle and several interesting matches were planned.

The first match of the night brought out all four of the tag team champions with a champions-versus-champions match. The Street Profits welcomed the WWE SmackDown tag team champions, Shinsuke Nakamura to the red brand.

Cesaro and Nakamura got off to a hot start, blasting Angelo Dawkins immediately when the bell rang. Dawkins attempted a comeback, but that was squashed when Montez Ford tagged in. He took to the skies and landed on the opponents who caught him and planted him across the barrier outside the ring. The action in this match went back and forth, including a massive European Uppercut that Cesaro landed on Ford. The finish came when Dawkins made a sneak tag to land the Cash Out splash on Cesaro for the pin.

The Hurt Business was front and center in the next segment. As the newest member of the group, Cedric Alexander did battle against his former tag team partner, Ricochet. Neither man held back in the grudge match once things got started. Alexander did not let up on his former partner, as he battered him in the corner and on the mat. Ricochet went to the top rope for a Shooting Star Press but rolled through. The end came when Alexander hit the Lumbar Check to pin his opponent to get the victory.

Asuka defeats Mickie James

The WWE Raw women’s title was up for grabs in the next match. Defending champion, Asuka took on six-time and future Hall of Famer, Mickie James.

Asuka was in control for much of this match early. After landing a nasty knee on James but could not complete the pin. James turned things around, landing a wheel kick that knocked Asuka from the ring. Asuka looked on her way to a win until James countered and landed a seated senton from the top, but once again, the champion kicked out. Asuka put James into the Asuka Lock and James would attempt to counter multiple times before the match was called to a finish via a referee’s decision.

WWE United States champion, Bobby Lashley continued his warpath, this time taking on Erik from the Viking Raiders. Lashley got to an early start and dominated his opponent, until Erik came back with some knees and offense of his own. Still, Lashley locked on the Full Nelson and forced Erik to submit for another victory.

Dominick Mysterio and Seth Rollins had yet another match on Monday, this time it was in a steel cage. Mysterio tried to exit the cage quickly, but Buddy Murphy slide Rollins a kendo stick which put an end to that immediately. Rollins’s use of underhanded tactics put him in a position of dominance early, but Mysterio came back, using the cage to his advantage. Murphy being at ring side cost Rollins dearly, as Murphy slammed the cage door on his head as he was attempting to crawl through the door. Rollins would eventually put Mysterio away after two Curb Stomps to pick up another win over the young competitor.

Aleister Black and Kevin Owens continued their budding feud with a singles match during the show. Black got the jump on Owens early. Black focused on Owens’s leg but that was not enough to stop Owens from hitting a surprise Stunner when the lights flickered. Black looked away and ate the maneuver to take the pin fall, giving Owens another win.

Women’s tag team action was up next. The Riott Squad walked into the ring to compete against Lana and Natalya. Liv Morgan found herself in the wrong corner and on the wrong end of an extended double team. Ruby Riott got the quick tag in and immediately finished off Lana to get the victory.

Braun Strowman caused havoc on Raw Underground, battering any man willing to get in his way. He ran through Riddick Moss, Dolph Ziggler and Titus O’Neil. But at the end he found himself face-to-face with Dabba-Kato. Before they could throw hands, Shane McMahon stepped in, setting the stage for a big fight next week.

The main event of the night rocked the friendship between Keith Lee and Drew McIntyre. Lee went right after McIntyre’s injured jaw, attempting to injure the champion for a shot at his WWE Championship. Both men landed some big offense early, but neither picked up a quick win. Lee landed a super plex, but McIntyre was able to kick out. Just as the match was picking up, RETRIBUTION hit the ring, beating both men down. The Hurt Business stormed to the ring to confront them and an all-out brawl ended the night.
