The 49ers were expected to be among the favorites to take home the NFC crown at the beginning of the 2020 season, but a Week 1 loss at home to the Arizona Cardinals proved that this team has some warts on the offensive end. When George Kittle went out of the game in the second half due to an injury, San Francisco’s lack of depth in the passing game started to show, and it allowed Arizona to mount a comeback.

The 49ers’ weak spot on offense is clearly the passing game, and forcing Jimmy Garoppolo to throw to two hobbled youngsters in Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel might not be the most efficient recipe for success. Robinson’s lack of elite speed might not sit well with Shanahan, but his unmatched ability to make contested catches renders that negative almost moot. The 49ers have no problems about trading picks to get their guys, and Robinson could be the next star skill position player that Shanahan helps return to stardom.
